Who says you need to be a pro in the kitchen to eat good at home? If you’re a foodie but don’t really know your way around cooking, then we have just what you need. Little changes here and there can make all the difference in a dish. There’s no need to always overcomplicate things with crazy techniques and 50 different spices. For all our beginners in the kitchen, or those who just love good food, here are 6 easy hacks to take all your meals to the next level! 😉

1. Think Texture 

You have to admit, eating things with a nice texture is just more fun. It’s that simple. One way to do this if you’re eating pasta is to switch up the basic penne or spaghetti with pasta that has a more eccentric shape ✨. There’s everything from super curly pasta to even heart-shaped pasta, it’s all up to you to try. Of course, aside from noodle shape there are many other textures that can be added to a meal. We have crunchy, smooth, chewy, hard - a dish can be composed of all those textures at once whether it's crunchy croutons, chewy noodles, or a smooth sauce. Get crazy and get creative, that’s the best part of cooking!



2. Stay Saucy 

We’ll be the first to tell you sauce is life and if you’re not drowning your food in sauce, you’re missing out. It’s a quick picker-upper for any dish that may need some extra pizzaz. 3. Stock Up On Dried Mushrooms 

While we generally agree that fresh ingredients are the way to go, dried mushrooms are still packed with umami flavor and can be used in so many different ways. Rehydrate them in water and they’ll still taste just as great. You can add them in stir fry, curries, noodles, or anything you’d like. They’re especially helpful if you’re in a pinch and looking to make a quick broth and still want that full flavor.

4. Bake Your Bacon 

Now this hack is unbelievably easy, instead of frying your bacon, bake it in the oven instead. It’s easier to make and you don’t have to watch over it or feel like you’re fighting for your life trying to avoid the inevitable grease splatters! 😅 On top of that, it’s healthier and the bacon actually comes out crisper. What more can you really ask for? The next time you find yourself making breakfast or a BLT,  you have to try it this way.

5. Use A Slow Cooker 

Slow cookers are the best way to make a delicious hearty meal with absolutely minimal effort. If you don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen, this hack is for you. All you have to do is put all your ingredients in the slow cooker and that’s it. Leave it on for a couple of hours and let it do all the magic on its own. Slow cooking will allow the flavors to really marinate into whatever dish you’re making and ensure everything will be soft and tender. If that’s not already making your mouth water, we don’t know what will. 🤤

6. Fresh Greens 

As we mentioned before, fresh ingredients are the way to go! They will lift and brighten any dish. Even just a sprinkle of freshly chopped green onions on your favorite meal will add a new depth of flavor and texture. For the most part, dried ingredients really don’t do flavor any justice. It’s mixed with preservatives that can take away the true flavor. So next time you go grocery shopping, make sure you don’t skip out on the produce aisle! 🥕🧅🧄
