KPOP Foods is dedicated to bringing people together and uplifting spirits by sharing Korean flavors in a fun and refreshing way. Before Pride Month is over, we want to show our passionate support for the LGBTQ+ community as well, especially to our Black brothers and sisters that identify as LGBTQ+. We featured 2 restaurants and 1 juice bar that are Black LGBTQ+ owned. Show your love by ordering from them today. ❤️
YARDY - Brooklyn, New York
For our KPOP Foods fam living in Brooklyn, Chef DeVonn Francis launched a meal delivery service featuring a menu with fresh, seasonal items that are affordable and readily available to eat. Their menu consists of items such as rye turmeric crackers that pair well with any dip you could think of, summer salad that changes by the season (currently served with a mix of baby romaine greens, radish, bibb, and coconut herb vinaigrette), and delicious assortment of cakes. Along with this delivery service, Yardy also provides a grocery service where customers can purchase bags of produce that are sourced from predominantly Black and queer owned farms. If you are interested in ordering or getting more information about their various services, check out their website https://www.yardy.nyc/.
Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours - Atlanta, Georgia
Deborah VanTrece is renowned Atlanta chef who is very supportive of the LGBTQ+ community as a queer Black woman herself. Her mission is for customers to experience comfort food that crosses cultural divides and speaks more languages than a guidebook. Her restaurant, Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours, features contemporary soul food that will truly satisfy your cravings for delicious soul food. Unfortunately, customers say her business has been affected because of the COVID-19 quarantine with altered hours of business. Luckily, her restaurant still continues to serve customers with a carry-out option! Some of the most signature items on their menu include Southern Marinated Fried Chicken, Brioche French Toast, Jack Daniels Honey Pecan Wings, and Twisted Soul Salad. Not to mention, Fridays are Fish Fry Fridays from 1PM-7PM! If you want an insta-worthy meal in Atlanta, this is the place for you!
Super Juiced - Oakland, California
Super Juiced is owned by two POC queer women who recognized that Oakland had a void when it came to healthy food options. They created Super Juiced to create an option for those who chose to eat clean, organic, nutritionally dense foods, by offering organic freshly juiced fruit and vegetable juices, organic superfood smoothies, healthy breakfast options, nourishing house-made nut milks, light organic produce offerings for the neighborhood, and an intentionally curated apothecary of local herbalists' goods. They are also incredibly supportive of the BLM and LGBTQ+ movements creating an environment of self-love for their customers! Some of their most popular items on their menu are their beautiful range of acai bowls. They are only open for preorders through their online store and order pickups occur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10AM-2PM. If you want a refreshing pick-me-up for the day, look no further!
This resource is one of many ways to support the Black and LGBTQ+ community! KPOP Foods is committed to taking the initiative to educate ourselves and support the changes that need to be made for our marginalized communities. We hope the KPOP Foods Fam can follow our dedicated journey of allyship for these communities ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
